Do I need to check British citizens?
Yes. Every worker must be checked before they start. British and Irish citizens can be checked manually from original documents or through a certified IDVT provider.
Can I still accept a BRP?
No. BRPs are no longer accepted. Use the Home Office online checking service with the worker's share code.
How long do I keep the record?
For the duration of employment and two years after it ends.
Is this the landlord Right to Rent record?
No. This is for employers. Landlords need a right to rent check, which is a different scheme.
