Who we are

DocPilot is a small UK business run by D. Osborne, trading as DocPilot, based in Gosport, Hampshire. We make legal document templates for landlords, employers, small businesses, families and individuals in the UK, and sell them as Word and PDF downloads.

DocPilot is a registered UK trade mark (No. UK00004394159).

Why DocPilot exists

Many everyday legal documents — a tenancy agreement, a will, an employment contract, a letter to a tribunal — follow a well-established structure. Paying a solicitor to produce them from scratch can cost hundreds of pounds, while free templates online are often out of date or written for another country.

The law has also changed a great deal recently. The Renters' Rights Act 2025 changed how private tenancies work in England from 1 May 2026, and the Employment Rights Act 2025 is changing employment law in stages. DocPilot exists to give people clear, current templates at a fair, one-off price.

How our documents are made

• Drafted from primary sources. Each template is drafted by DocPilot using current legislation and official guidance — including GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk, Acas, the ICO and HMCTS.
• Independently checked. Every template is checked against those sources before it goes on sale: the notice periods, deadlines, forms, fees and statutory wording it relies on.
• Reviewed every six months. The whole library is fully re-reviewed every six months. The last full review was in September 2026; the next is due in March 2027.
• Updated when the law changes. When legislation, regulations or official forms change between reviews, the affected templates are updated and the "last reviewed" date on each document changes.
• Plain English. Documents include notes on what each section does, what the law requires and when to get help.

Every DocPilot document shows the date it was last reviewed, and states which part of the UK it applies to — for example England only, or England & Wales.

What DocPilot is not

DocPilot is not a law firm and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Our templates are not legal advice, and buying one does not create a solicitor–client relationship. Templates work well for straightforward situations; they cannot take account of your particular circumstances.

Get advice if your situation is disputed, complex or high-value. Good places to start:

• A solicitor — for disputes, court proceedings, complex estates or large sums. Find one through the Law Society.
• Citizens Advice — free help with debt, consumer, benefits, housing and family issues.
• Shelter — free housing advice for tenants.
• Acas — free, impartial advice for employers and employees.
