Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DocPilot templates and DocPilot Pro.

Are these documents legally valid?
Yes. DocPilot templates are professionally drafted legal documents in Word format, based on current UK legislation updated to May 2026. However, they are self-help documents — not legal advice. For complex or high-value matters such as contested estates, significant business disputes, or complex immigration cases, we recommend consulting a qualified solicitor. Our documents are used by landlords, HR professionals, small business owners, and individuals who understand their situation and need professionally drafted paperwork.
Are the documents up to date?
Yes — updated May 2026. This matters more than it might seem. The Renters' Rights Act 2025 came into force on 1 May 2026 and abolished Section 21, changed tenancy agreement requirements, and introduced new obligations that most template providers have not yet updated for. The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduced SSP from day one, day-one family leave rights, and changes to unfair dismissal not yet reflected in most template employment contracts. DocPilot templates reflect all of these changes.
What format are the documents in?
All documents are in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. They can be opened in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and Apple Pages. They are fully editable — fill in the highlighted fields and save. If you need a PDF for sending, most word processors export to PDF directly.
Can I use these documents more than once?
Yes. Once you purchase a document, it is yours to use as many times as you need for your own personal or business use. You may not resell the templates or distribute them commercially.
Do I need a solicitor to use these documents?
For most situations — a straightforward tenancy, a standard employment offer, a basic NDA, or a simple Will — no. These documents are designed for use without a solicitor and include guidance throughout. For complex situations (contested estates, significant business disputes, complex immigration matters, or high-value contracts), we recommend professional legal advice. Our documents are not a substitute for legal advice where legal advice is genuinely needed.

What is your refund policy?
Because these are digital downloads, we do not offer refunds once a document has been downloaded. If you have a technical problem accessing your download, contact us at hello@docpilot.to and we will resolve it promptly.
I'm a letting agent / HR professional / accountant — can I use these for my clients?
Our standard licence is for personal and business use. If you want to use DocPilot documents for client work at scale, contact us at hello@docpilot.to to discuss a professional or agency licence.
How do I access my download after purchase?
After purchasing through our Lemon Squeezy store, you will receive an email with a download link immediately. Your download link does not expire — if you ever need to access your documents again, contact us and we will resend the link. If you have any problem with your download, contact us and we will sort it out.
Are the documents suitable for Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland?
Most DocPilot templates are drafted for England only, as England has the most distinct legal framework — particularly for property law. Where a document applies more broadly (such as general business contracts, NDAs, or immigration letters), this is noted in the document. Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland each have their own distinct legal systems for property, employment, and other areas — please check the specific document's notes before use.
