Do I have to send a letter before action?
Before issuing a county court claim against an individual, the Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims expects a letter before action with the information sheet, reply form and financial statement — all included.
How long must I wait?
30 days from the date of the letter for an individual debtor.
Can I add interest?
For business-to-business debts, statutory interest and compensation can be claimed. For consumer debts, contractual interest applies if the agreement allows it.
